Is Soleil Dental in network with Cigna?
Yes, with Cigna dental PPO plans, sometimes shown on the card as DPPO. Cigna also offers an HMO-style plan called Cigna Dental Care, where you choose a network general dentist who coordinates your care. If your card says DHMO or Cigna Dental Care, call us before you book.
Some Cigna PPO plans pay differently depending on which Cigna network the dentist belongs to. That's one more reason to send us your card first: we'll confirm how your visit will be processed before you come in.
Reading your Cigna card
The card holds most of what we need. Here's what each part tells us.
Plan type
Look for DPPO, PPO or Dental Care (DHMO). That tells you whether you can choose any dentist.
Member ID and group
We use these to find your exact plan, your benefits and what you've already used this year.
Network name
Some cards show a network name that affects how your plan pays. Photograph it too, even if it looks like fine print.
Phone number on the back
Handy if you want to ask Cigna something directly, like how much of your maximum is left.
Orthodontics and Invisalign with Cigna
Cigna plans that include orthodontics often have a separate lifetime maximum for it, apart from your yearly maximum, and some limit orthodontic coverage to children and teens. Adult coverage exists on some plans but isn't a given.
We're an Invisalign Gold Plus provider (2025), and we offer Straight-Wire braces too. If your Cigna plan has an orthodontic benefit, we check how much of the lifetime maximum is available and how it's paid, since many plans pay it in installments over the course of treatment instead of all at once.
If your plan doesn't cover orthodontics, or covers only part of it, Sunbit and Cherry can spread the rest into monthly payments.
Two plans? How coordination of benefits works
If you have Cigna through work and you're also on a spouse's or parent's plan, both plans may pay part of the cost. The primary plan pays first, and the secondary plan may pick up some of what's left, up to its own limits.
Which plan counts as primary follows set rules. Your own employer plan usually comes before a spouse's, and for kids covered by both parents, many plans use the birthday rule: the parent whose birthday comes first in the year is usually primary. Tell us about every plan up front and we'll bill them in the right order.
Kids on a Cigna plan
Children on a Cigna plan usually get the same preventive coverage as adults, and many plans also cover sealants and fluoride for kids up to a certain age. Limits are tracked per person, so we check each family member's benefits on their own.
We see patients of all ages, so the whole family can come to the same office, often on the same afternoon if the schedule allows.
Your estimate, in the language you prefer
Both doctors and the whole team speak English and Spanish. That goes for insurance too: we'll walk you through your Cigna estimate, your deductible and your options in whichever language you're more comfortable with. Family members are welcome to come along and listen in.
If we find something that needs treatment, you'll see it on screen first, with digital x-rays and close-up photos. For bigger work, we can ask Cigna for a predetermination before anything starts.
What we need from you
- Photos of the front and back of your Cigna card.
- The name and date of birth of the person the plan is under, if it isn't you.
- Details for any other dental plan you or your kids are on.
- Recent x-rays from your last dentist, if you have them. Plans limit how often they pay for some x-rays, so sharing recent ones can save you from paying for new ones too soon.
